Matias, a documentary film by co-produced by Claudine LoMonaco and
Mary Spicuzza, retraces the journey of
Matias Juan Garcia Zavaleta, a Mexican migrant attempting to
cross the U.S.-Mexico border. The film follows Matias's story from his village in Oaxaca to the border, and
retraces his steps through the Arizona desert.
Like hundreds of migrants each year, Matias never made it.
Matias looks at current U.S. immigration policies and the history of Mexican migrant labor in the
United States while examining the dangerous situation at the U.S.-Mexico border.
